During her 30+ year career, Statman has worked with global businesses and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and local governments to achieve client objectives and ensure compliance with best practices. From 2012 to 2014, she served New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez as a Homeland Security cabinet official.

Statman served 16 years with ICF International, launching the company’s emergency management and homeland security practice. She oversaw a variety of contingency planning and risk management initiatives as officer in charge on a major DHS-FEMA Radiological Emergency Preparedness initiative, leading the transition of the federal government’s nuclear power plant safety program to a hostile-environment stance following 9/11. Statman also personally led ICF’s development of the DHS National Critical Infrastructure Protection Program

A certified Emergency Manager and Business Resilience Manager, she recently completed work with the National Emergency Management Executive Academy at the DHS/FEMA Emergency Management Institute. In addition to her consulting work, Statman educates government leaders, student groups and the public, raising awareness of critical risk issues and offering common-sense approaches to emergency planning and mitigation. She speaks in various forums including at industry conferences, for the New Mexico Municipal League of Cities, and in master’s-level classes at the University of New Mexico.
